A few little things you may not have thought about

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and it can be easy to forget some of the minor details.

Here i'd like to share a few little things that may not have crossed your mind on the run up to your wedding and also little suggestions to consider on the day.

Sun tan marks

If you're planning a summer wedding or a hen party in a warmer climate, don't forget to protect your skin from the sun and wear strapless clothing.

It's easy to forget when your having fun in the sun that your skin is likely catch the rays, especially in the UK.

Sun tan marks could easily spoil the look of your perfect dress, especially if it's off the shoulder, has delicate straps, or a low back. So, make sure apply sunscreen regularly and your mindful of the clothing you wear when out in the sun.

Hands

Hands and wrists

You've probably spent some time having nail extensions, a manicure or painted your nails ready for your big day.

It's good to remember to  your hands will be photographed a lot on your wedding day and lots of your guests will want to admire your wedding ring.

So here's a gentle reminder to remove that handy little hair band you keep on your wrist to tie your hair back.

You may or may not want to wear a watch on your big day, If not, there's no need to worry about being punctual as there will be plenty of people around ( including me ) to remind you of the time. So remember to remove your watch and allow the time to flow throughout your day.

Your wedding shoes

Prepare your bridal shoes by wearing them 10 minutes a day, for 6 weeks before your wedding, gives them chance to start to mould to your feet. For extra security, I also recommend only wearing your shoes on carpet floors when breaking them in - so your soles still look squeaky clean for your big day.

If the soles are still a little smooth and your anxious you might slip, a great tip from the catwalks of the world is to warp your shoes in a towel, leaving the sole exposed and spray them with a strong hairspray and allow it to dry, this make the base of the shoe tacky.

Alternatively try using sand paper to buff the sole, creating a rough textured feel on the bottom of the shoe.

Dressing Gowns
& Slippers

On the morning of your wedding day, you want to feel as relaxed as possible, so it's a great idea for you and your team bride to wear something comfortable.

Also removing your bra or bralette will prevent any strap marks on your skin.

Remember you'll be sat in the makeup and hair chair for some time, so comfort is key, you'll also need to remove your garment easily after your hair and makeup is complete, so preferably something you don't have to take over your head.

Open toe slippers are also a great addition to your preparation attire.

If you haven't already painted your tootsie nails, you may want to paint them on the morning and the last thing you want to happen is to smudge them.

Slippers also prevent you from getting sock marks around your ankles, even if your dress is long, sock marks are never a great look, especially when your photographer wants to take a shot of your tootsies in your cinderella shoes.

Bouquets & Button holes

Chances are your florist has told you how and where to hold your flowers, but with everything else to think about on the morning, you may well have forgotten.

There is a cheeky little phrase which is great reminder about where to hold your flowers and that's " Hips not T*T's"

So if you have your arms straight this will cover the silhouette of your wedding dress.

If you hold them too high you'll cover the front of your dress and cast a shadow on your face.

The perfect way to hold them is with your wrist bone next to your hip bone, arms in a diamond shape, this flatters your silhouette.

I'm often asked in a last minute panic, which side button holes are placed.

Traditionally men should wear them on the left-hand side, above the heart and pointing towards the left shoulder.

For ladies the button holes should be worn on the right-hand side.

Engagement ring

As tradition goes a wedding band is worn first to keep it closer to your heart, your engagement ring is then placed above the wedding band.

Traditional etiquette suggests you wear your engagement ring on your right ring finger to walk down the aisle. During the exchanging of the rings, your partner will place the wedding band on your left finger.

After the ceremony, you put the engagement ring back on your left hand, on top of your wedding ring, which is the traditional stacking order. If the above is not an option due to your finger size on your right hand, either give your engagement ring to a trusting person, place it on another finger on your right hand or your not big on traditions, them keep it comfortable on your left hand and switch the rings over after your ceremony.
